Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you record?
I record in a purpose-built recording booth, with soundproofing materials (SonoPan) in the walls, and acoustic treatment inside. My recording booth is located in a quiet, semi-rural home.
What recording equipment do you use?
I have a range of equipment, but my go-to setup is an Audio-Technica AT2035 microphone connected to a FocusRite interface, and Audacity recording software.
What do you provide as the finished product?
I can record, mix, and master finished audio with no errors and no background noise. I can provide these files in any audio format you require. (Naturally, I can also provide the raw audio if you prefer to do the mastering.)
What are your revision policies?
As a general rule of thumb, I’m not happy until you’re happy. I will provide revisions to eliminate any errors on my part, of course. I also recognize that things may change on your end, and I endeavour to work with my clients to modify recordings as required.
What is your turnaround time?
Generally, I can turn around short recordings in as little as 24 hours. Naturally, audiobooks and other longer-form recordings need a bit more time. My promise: I will keep whatever deadline I commit to when we agree to work together.
How much do you charge per minute/word?
I prefer project pricing rather than a price per word or per minute of audio. Let’s talk about your project – I’m sure I can offer a price structure that can work within your budget.
Who am I, anyway?
I’ve enjoyed a lengthy and diverse career in business, nonprofit, and academia.
I’ve held roles that encompassed sales, marketing, communications, media and public relations, human resources, and team leadership. I’ve spoken to audiences ranging in size from a handful of people to hundreds.
My passion – and the common thread throughout – is communication. I love language, and I love using it to convey not just information … but feeling, too. Emotion.
That is why I love voice work.
